Andrea Cook OBE
Andrea Cook is a consumer and regulatory specialist. Ms Cook has a successful track record in the energy, financial, legal and water sectors. She is committed to the principles of independence, fairness, proportionality, diversity and transparency. Ms Cook was the Chair of the Law Society’s Industrial Diseases sub-committee, compensating miners for coal health-related diseases. As a result of the sub-committee’s intervention she had oversight for the resolution of over 4000 complaints and it repaid £3 million to miners and their families.
From 2005 to 2018 Ms Cook was an Independent Member of the Parole Board. Her role involved chairing oral hearings for life sentence prisoners and assessing their suitability for release based on issues of public safety and risk. Ms Cook remains the Independent Chair of the Yorkshire Forum for Water Customers, and ensures that the views of customers are reflected in the investment plans of Yorkshire Water.
